Dr. Yates was born and raised right here in Eugene, Oregon, and is a proud graduate of both Henry D. Sheldon High School and Pacific University. He then completed medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. After medical school, Dr. Yates completed a comprehensive residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the prestigious Highlands Foot & Ankle Institute at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Yates’ surgical expertise is focused on primary and revision total ankle replacement, 3D-printed custom implants, and Charcot reconstruction. He is a regional and national lecturer, and is a published author on many topics at the forefront of foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Yates is also actively involved in Essential Strides, a non-profit organization that travels to Peru annually to perform neglected clubfoot surgery and other limb deformity correction.

Outside of work, you can find Dr. Yates whitewater rafting and kayaking all over the Pacific Northwest, spending time with his wife and two dogs, continuing his pursuit of becoming a scratch golfer, and volunteering at his early retirement project flower farm.
