During her years as a varsity basketball player at Edmond Santa Fe High School and Oklahoma Christian University, she saw her share of bad ankles and chronic foot problems. She watched people play in pain, without seeking proper attention. For Dr. Smith, providing advanced foot and ankle care has been a natural extension of doing what she loves.
Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and performed her residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She completed her fellowship at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Center at the prestigious Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. While at Baylor, she obtained specialized training in foot and ankle surgery, including trauma, degenerative arthritis and Achilles tendon repair.
Dr. Smith is affiliated with major hospitals in the metro area, including Bone and Joint, St Anthony, and Community Hospital. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, and was awarded a Patient’s Choice Award in 2012 for outstanding patient care. Few metro-area professionals can offer this level of foot and ankle surgery and re-construction.
Dr. Smith and her husband spend their free time with their children, who are growing athletes. Don’t be surprised if you run into Dr. Smith in the basketball gym or on the soccer field.
