Dr. Rachel Gerber is a fellowship-trained, board-qualified foot and ankle surgeon who is excited to be serving the population of Anthem, Arizona and beyond. She is passionate about improving patients’ outcomes with innovative techniques and working as a partner in her patients’ care. Dr. Gerber has experience treating patients of all ages and activity level and offers expertise in reconstructive limb deformity foot and ankle surgery (External Fixation, Charcot, flatfoot, cavus foot, congenital defects), minimally invasive surgery (bunions, flatfoot), orthoplastic reconstruction (soft tissue injury), nerve injury, arthritis, total ankle replacement, sports medicine (scopes, lateral ankle stabilization, non-surgical options) and traumatic injuries.
Dr. Gerber was born in Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in Mishicot, Wisconsin as a four-sport athlete. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in a dual Biochemistry and Microbiology Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire while also playing collegiate-level basketball. Dr. Gerber completed her medical education at Des Moines University by earning a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. As a medical student, she was the first podiatric student to ever complete an internship at the Centers of Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Gerber completed her surgical residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago,IL followed by a reconstructive limb salvage fellowship at the North Jersey Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship.
Dr. Gerber’s passion for truly serving others compelled her to complete five medical service trips including a month with the Uganda Clubfoot Care Project; most of those in a leadership role. She has authored multiple articles and textbook chapters while also presenting her research at the national level.
In her free time Dr. Gerber enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, camping, and scuba diving.
