Meena Shatby, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician at The Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre in The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Shatby has extensive training in sports medicine and trauma. He’s fellowship-trained in managing lower extremities with a focus on knee, ankle, foot, and other sports injuries.

Dr. Shatby attended Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas. He graduated at the top of his class summa cum laude with undergraduate degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and earned a place as an engineering scholar.

After nurturing a passion for medicine, Dr. Shatby earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. There, he received multiple awards, including Outstanding Student in Orthopedic Surgery and Outstanding Academic Achievement. Dr. Shatby completed an internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he developed an interest in trauma, sports medicine, and reconstructive orthopedics.

His interest in ambulation pathology and gait led him to a prestigious fellowship in foot and ankle. It encompassed sports and knee disorders at Union Memorial Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing this training, Dr. Shatby returned to The Woodlands to practice his passion – orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Shatby served as vice chairman of the Medical Board of Managers at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands and the Orthopedic Surgery and Peer Review Committee. He was a member of the Medical Board of Managers at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Woodlands Parkway and the Medical Executive Committee. He’s on the medical staff at St. Luke’s Community Medical Center of The Woodlands.

He uses advanced, innovative methods of nonoperative and conservative treatment. If surgical management is necessary, he offers proven, minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Shatby understands that education and early prevention are key components of effective healing. He has received multiple awards, including Patient’s Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award, and Texas Favorite Physician.

In addition to offering compassionate, quality care, Dr. Shatby provides second opinions regarding other physician recommendations.

Dr. Shatby has authored and co-authored numerous book chapters and articles, emphasizing clinical studies and evidence-based medicine. He’s a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), and Montgomery County Medical Society.
