Dr. Panas grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma for his undergraduate degree, medical school, and his orthopedic surgery residency. His orthopedic residency training was focused on general orthopedics and becoming a well rounded surgeon capable of handling the vast majority of orthopedic issues and trauma. He completed his fellowship at the University of South Florida in sports medicine specializing in complex shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee issues.

Dr. Panas has advanced skills and interests in shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, knee arthroscopy, and hip arthroscopy. His training at the University of South Florida involved high level athletes and their unique medical situations. He trained with Dr. Mark Mighell learning a new technique for muscle sparing shoulder arthroplasty that only a handful of surgeons in the world practice. He also worked closely with Dr. Frankle, the surgeon that introduced the reverse shoulder replacement to the medical community in the United States. He is comfortable with all types of ACL reconstruction and high-energy Mult ligamentous knee injuries. He is comfortable taking care high level throwing athletes with shoulder and elbow injuries. He was also trained in hip arthroscopy and can handle boney impingement and labral pathology.

During his time in residency and fellowship, Dr. Panas developed a deep understanding and passion about diet and nutrition and has developed novel strategies to optimize outcomes for surgical patients and injured athletes. He was awarded the “Most Outstanding Research Project” at the University of Oklahoma Visiting Professor annual conference for his work and development of the ESO (Enhanced Surgical Outcomes) Protocol.
