Dr. Jay Ryan completed his residency in Atlanta, GA at Emory Hospital and DeKalb Medical Center. While there, he was extensively trained in advanced reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, graduating with highest honors. Dr. Ryan is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) in both Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery and Foot Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Foot Surgery, as well as Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. He is also a Diplomate of the ABFAS in both Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery and Foot Surgery. Dr. Ryan has completed multiple advanced training courses for arthroscopic ankle surgery. He has worked closely with professional and amateur athletes and is able to offer unique insight for this population. He is a contributing author of the renowned ‘McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery’, the last nine editions of ‘Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery Annual Update’, as well as many professional journals. Dr. Ryan is a faculty member of The Podiatry Institute and lectures both nationally and internationally on Foot and Ankle surgical techniques. He also participates in the training of surgical residents at Inova Fairfax Hospital, serving as a member of the residency training committee. Additionally, Dr. Ryan regularly participates in Medical Missions and works closely with various aid organizations which contribute to this cause.
