Education is the cornerstone of Dr. Emily Wagler’s care approach. She enjoys teaching patients about their diagnosis and uses foot models, x-rays, and diagrams to illustrate issues. She believes that involving patients in their treatment plan results in better outcomes. She particularly appreciates that podiatry offers opportunities to make an immediate difference. It is not uncommon for an individual who came in limping or in pain to leave feeling much better thanks to taping, bracing, orthotics, or an injection.

Dr. Wagler has a special interest in offering life-improving treatments, such as reconstruction surgery for severe deformities that cause wounds or prevent walking. She has experience in Charcot reconstruction and complex rearfoot and ankle surgery revision. She is also gratified to repair ankle fractures and uses arthroscopy as much as possible.

Dr. Wagler earned a bachelor of arts in cell and molecular biology from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington. She earned a doctor of podiatric practice at the Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. From there, she completed the MedStar Georgetown Foot & Ankle Surgery Residency in Washington, D.C., and the CHI Franciscan Health Advanced Foot & Ankle Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship in Federal Way, Washington.

In her spare time, Dr. Wagler enjoys exploring Portland with her dog, Hank, a miniature bernedoodle. She loves singing karaoke, camping, and taking frequent trips to the coast.
