Dr. Johnny Dong is a board-certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon recognized by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He practices in Somerset, NJ, providing expert, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of foot and ankle disorders.
Dr. Dong earned his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (Touro College & University System) and completed a three-year surgical residency at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, where he served as Chief Resident. His residency training included:
- Charcot foot reconstruction
- Complex deformity correction
- Trauma and elective foot/ankle procedures
- Minimally invasive surgical techniques
- Pediatric foot and ankle pathologies
He also trained alongside plastic and vascular surgeons to master soft-tissue and microvascular techniques.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Dong completed a pediatric foot and ankle fellowship at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center in Cedar Knolls, NJ, with Dr. Mark Solomon and his pediatric orthopedic colleagues, focusing on congenital deformities, growth-plate injuries, sports-related conditions, and pediatric trauma. He then refined his adult reconstructive skills under Dr. Justin Fleming, specializing in high-energy trauma, revision procedures, complex sports injuries, and total ankle replacement.
As Academic Director for Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Podiatry Residents, Dr. Dong mentors the next generation of surgeons. Fluent in English and Mandarin, he forges strong patient relationships through clear communication and compassionate care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys family time, cooking, and racquet sports.
