Dr. Blumfield graduated with a B. S. in Biology from Wilkes Universityand received his D.P.M. from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his Residency Program here in Houston, at the Harris County Podiatric Surgical Residency Program, where he was the Chief Resident. He has been Chief of Podiatric Surgery at the Houston V.A. and Del Oro Hospital. Currently, he is the Chief of Podiatric Surgery at Memorial Hermann- Memorial City Hospital.
Dr. Blumfield’s professional interests include sports medicine, surgery of the foot and ankle, including bunions and hammertoe deformities. He has a special and personal interest in reconstructive and pediatric surgery of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Blumfield is currently on staff at Texas Children’s, Memorial City, Methodist St. Catherine, First Street, West Houston Surgery Center, Methodist West Hospital and Methodist Willowbrook Hospitals.
He is on all major insurance plans. These include: Aetna, United Health Care, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna and Medicare. Please look in the insurance section for the full list.
Dr. Blumfield is blissfully married to his wife and a loving and devoted father to five children, two bonus children, two grandchildren, and two amazing rescue dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, working out, and going to the Texans games. Dr. Blumfield is passionate about baseball. He has coached all his children’s teams and is an extremely proud fan of the Astros and the Yankees.
OSSIOfiber® Certified Surgeon
An OSSIOfiber® certified surgeon has performed a minimum number of procedures using OSSIOfiber® implants. Additionally, Certified surgeons must maintain their use of OSSIOfiber® implants on a regular basis or be an OSSIOfiber® certified surgeon trainer.
