He specializes in Total Ankle Replacement (TAR), minimally invasive bunion correction, arthritis and deformity correction, PARS Achilles repair, lateral ankle instability, foot and ankle cartilage injuries, trauma, and advanced 4-D DynaBunion and Lapiplasty bunion correction procedures. Dr. Butler earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Davidson College, where he played Division I men’s tennis. He later worked as an associate research scientist for GlaxoSmithKline before pursuing medicine at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he combined his passion for research and patient care. He completed a one-year surgical internship in orthopedic surgery at Wellmont Health Systems, Holston Valley Medical Center, followed by residency training with the Wellmont Orthopedic Residency Program (East Tennessee State University Orthopedic Program), where he contributed to published research on pediatric Lisfranc trauma, hardware complications, and case studies.
He then completed a prestigious Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Desert Orthopaedic Center under world-renowned surgeon Dr. Troy Watson, serving as an adjunct consultant for NFL and UNLV athletes, Cirque du Soleil performers, and other elite professionals requiring the highest level of orthopedic care.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Butler enjoys exploring Dallas–Fort Worth with his wife, son, and daughter, as well as traveling, playing tennis, staying active, attending sporting events, and spending quality time with friends and family.
